Dayton has some great stuff in the DA and DC lines ( among others). And MCM has/had some great 4" and 5" aluminum woofers but what about larger drivers? MCM/Newark does a very poor job of marketing their drivers but I imagine a few of you have tried various models. So.... any standout high value MCM large bore woofers still in existence?

The 8" 55-5670 is pretty good.
I highly recommend the MCM 55-5670 eight inch woofers. They are not good, they are VERY good. Normal price is just $39 (I got mine on sale for only $26). I personally feel they sound and perform better than the Holy grail Dayton RS225-8 drivers.
I have not used them, but the cheap PA style drivers are apparently pretty good, provided you have some reinforcement down low.
JR and I were typing at the same time and he "treed" me (drag racing term).
RT is everything in bracket racing, my friend.
That's a pretty stout claim:) Now I have to check them out!

It's a 15", but cast frame etc for less than $40 right now. Probably make for a very fun, inexpensive party speaker. Just add this:

I grabbed the 55-1255 last yr simply because it had the carbon fibre look and was cheap. It turns out to be a very cheap stamped frame poly cone. Nothing like the description or picture and quite underwhelming performance.

Open your wallet and get Eminence Delta Pro 12A if you want a real nice 12" woofer. But you could get a half dozen cheap MCM drivers for that price...tough call
I was modeling them in Bassbox today:)
I'm looking for low cost options to fill the holes in some thrift store stuff I have. Maybe for shop speakers or something. Delta 12A might be a little spendy for what I'm trying to do.
They have had the wrong image on that driver for many, many years. Well before the Newark merger.
Has anyone done distortion measurements on the MCM 55-5670?
Yes but I can't find them. I can take them again (in my ported bass bins).
I just looked at a bunch of 10" woofers to rebuild a set of cheap monkey coffins, and was keen on some of the MCM 10s, but when I found info from folks who used them, I kept seeing comments about them not measuring anywhere close to published specs. Some had published qts numbers in the . 4 range and apparently measured over 1.0, sometimes as high as 1.4. I just decided to spend an extra $10 and get Dayton DC250s.
Does anyone have any real world TS specs or response graphs to share?
I can look for my measurements. My measured T/S parameters were really close to mfg specs. Tom and I also measure a pair with his test rig in Iowa two years ago. They were pretty much spot on.
Those are surprisingly well built woofers for $40. Reminds me of the Silver Flute drivers in that regard.
