Supply and demand. They have some demand and even less supply. I imagine they are running into supply chain issues with the China entry level products. It seems premium producs are less affected.
Tom, those are very similar, and likely fit about the same. The vents are in the outer rim on the Talent/Sonus models, but similar nonetheless. These are also soft velour-style padding, whereas the ones I have modded have been more of a vinyl/faux-leather.
If they have 50mm drivers, then the swap will indeed work.
Nice DOTD today. I'm sure those GRT 8" planars are just as easy to work with as the Audiopur that I used in my last project. Great chance for someone to try a dipole mid hybrid.
I built a simple ported TM with those woofers last year. They are a great deal at that price. A pair in parallel per side should get stupid loud. No idea how they would work in that Tritrix TL . I had a single per side in about 1/2 cubic foot and they really needed a bigger enclosure.
These are deeply discounted. Sound absolutely amazing. Was listening within a few minutes of opening the package.
I got a set at the discounted price, they sound nice, like the ambient aware feature.
Not sure how good the mic is, but I answered 1 call so far and had no complaints from the other side.
Not a DOTD, but I just got an Open Box (not refurbished) Epique 5 1/2" sub driver from PE for $41. Don't know what I'll do with it, but couldn't pass it up. (And of course bought $59 more stuff to get free shipping!!)
Good thing I have enough really great drivers on my shelves to build speakers for the next 3 or 4 years... Funny, my two New Year's resolutions were to NOT buy any more drivers in 2022 and to start working out again... well at least I haven't bought any drivers yet
It's not too late Power Ride. Do 20 minutes tonight to get the ball rolling.
I paid $18 and change each, on sale, for the pair of W5-1158sm i bought many years ago.
The were in some news-paper-like sale flyer from PE that I have only seen that one time.
For those of you looking for cheap capacitors, Newark has some Kemet metalized pp film caps on special. 55uf = $2.46, 50 = $2.93, 17uf = $1.89, 6.8uf = $.97, and other values. Some are cheap some not, but these are np electrolytic prices. Don't be put off by the box shape, these are far better than np electrolytic.

Used to be $150/each, right?

I believe so.

How good is the microphone on these? People often say my voice is a bit muffled when I use headphones like these
Microphone?
I ordered a set of AKG to try out...

The the AKG page talks about making and managing phone calls.
I think I will order a pair. AKG knows a lot about microphones.
It very well could serve as a mic, I have no intention of using them as such.

This is on the deal of the day. I wonder how 2 would work in my tritrix TL enclosure? (The dayton classic 5.25" have issues with the foam.)
A pair of those should work pretty good in the TL tower. I used them a couple of years ago, and they will do allright in about 3/4 ^3 foot volume.

And I think an MTM with those woofers and the Beast Mode tweeter could kick some serious azz.
Agreed.

Should receive my pair next Monday,

As a side note, the price of Tang Band stuff went to the moon.
Yeah... $50 for some of the 3" drivers... Ugh....
