The 5.25" unit certainly looks interesting. Not crazy about the mouth termination, but it could work. The 4" coax only has a .75" dome with a high FS and isn't as appealing.
Just glob it on and protect the outside of the cabinet, shouldn't take more than 1 coat. Also, unless you're looking to kill some low end, I would only line the walls with denim.
