They don't come with teach pendant. That's why wireless keyboard is so nice. You can freely walk around the machine and set your 0s or start running the code. Every command in Mach3 is run of off the keyboard, So, it's like super teach pendant. There are also options in Mach3 to have infrared game controller serve the function of teach pendant but I never needed that.

Is there a way to adjust the incremental step downs on the keyboard when looking for your reference? .001/.01/.1 Just curious about some of the features.
what is a teach pendant? I always need the KB handy for setting the co-ordinates, but i never had to set it up. My biggest issue is the dust that gets blown all over the kb and mouse and then the keys get stuck the spindle is on a wild joy ride...

It's called a teach pendant because you can literally build a program with it. Say you have a really crazy part with lots of funky curves in it and you want to make a profile cut of it that matches. You would place the part down on the table, secure it however, put a tool in the motor (doesn't need to be running and I prefer a pointer) and then take this pendant over and start inputting coordinates from it. Depending on how accurate you want it to be, you could take a point once every inch or even more often, totally up to you. Line up the pointer over the part, input the point into the program, and then move to another spot to do it again. You could also export the coordinates back into a cad software to smooth up the curves. Hope I didn't go overboard explaining it but it's a pretty cool tool to have. I also use it to find the XYZ reference points.
That is really nice. The CNC router part doesn't come with anything such fancy and you need the keyboard handy and close to do all the settings adjustment. Most cheap KB are not meant to handle mdf and wood dust and particles.
The only issue with wireless KB is sometimes the response is delayed or not relayed at all.... pretty critical if you are trying to hit the Feed Hold button....!!!

Yes. I usually use mouse to change incremental stops on Mach3 screen. There are 2 speeds of Jog. You can switch between fast and slow by holding shift on the keyboard.

Oohhhh a wireless one, I like that a lot! That's the one thing I hate about the one at work is fighting the damn cord. You set the pendant down on the table and it'll try to pull it off, such a PITA.

I know. I wish my emergency stop button was wireless as well. I hate that! Only problem with wireless keyboard is if you walk too far, it'll loose the signal.
I'm still trying to get over the fact that you can get a wireless one for $100-150 bucks! That's crazy! We had to replace the dial in one of our older wired ones a couple of years ago and the dial alone cost more then one of these.
Is the controller and controller software PC based on your machine or it has proprietary soft/hardware combination?
They are proprietary. Both of our DMS machines use Fagor controllers. Not sure why they haven't made the switch to PC based. Probably just creatures of habit, been building their machines with these controllers for 30-40 years now. Sure would be sweet to have that wireless option though.
Ill get a picture tomorrow of the garage its a 2 car about 22x22 with 8.5 foot ceiling. It takes up 1/2 of a concrete pad (4 pads total in my garage) so basically 5x5 or 6x6 with a little space around it.

From what I gather, PC driven controllers are getting close to proprietary controllers and software and more and more conventional CNC are using similar to Mach3 processors. But still, high performance systems are better on the absolute scale. On the other hand, Mach3 is only limited to 4 axis machining. XYZ + rotational. So, if you need continuous 4 axis machining (not rotational 4th) or 5 axis, you'd be forced to use proprietary soft and hard.
Where are the cars? I got a three car garage, divided into two bays, and one bay. The single bay garage is a bit oversized and has a separating wall between the two bay.... This would be my workshop, but it is no where near the space your garage has.
Will have to use a button camera with fish Eve lens to shoot any flick in there...

The cars are in the drive way. Its a sacrifice but if you wanna play you gotta pay. I should be able to put one car in once the cnc is in place.
Driveway is fine in summer, real pain in winter.... apart from shoveling, you also need to brush / scrape off ice and snow off the car. I am planning to heat the third garage this summer. I'll keep your advice in mind and have a line in the two bay garage if I ever want to heat it in future...

Yeh it doesnt get quite as cold for as long as your location. It hasnt been bad the like 3-5 times a year i need to scrap off the car so i just park in the drive way. I would just park out front by my asshole neighbor has 8-9 cars. 6 of which are always parked in front of my house and every other neighbor.
I hope to get the cnc moving this weekend. I havent worked on it in a few weeks now. I got back into paintball and had alot of birthdays inbetween to attend.
I need to wire up all motors and sensors, mount and square the router, mount a spoil board and make the dust shoe. I will probably try to make tbe dust shoe before doing surfacing the spoil board for obvious reason!
I see alot of signage that is foam. I assume i can drum up alot of business with house addresses and names etc. So i was trying to find different tyoes of foam to use anyone have experience with foam products?
Hey mike, if you manage to get a break on the sign business I would be very interested in knowing how you went about it and what works. As for foam, haven't used it. Tried all sorts of wood, hardwood, MDF, ply and tempered.
Also the machine is out in the middle of the garage until the windows get installed and insulation gets put in. I want to set it up but i have ti move it again for sure. I can slide with with my dad right now. If spoil boards are installed we may not be able to pic it up. Its easily 400lbs. I asked quite a few friends to help with insulation for $15 per hour and no one took me up on it. Should only take 2 hours i would think its too awkward to do solo (r19batts)

I need to level the machine, tram spindle, make dust shoe and geta few sheets of mdf for the spoil board and storage rack.
I need to figire out how to use the mach3 screens and draw in vcarve. Ani or roman have any tips, words of the wise or youtube favorites to check out?
